Characteristically nutty and fragrant
Intriguingly both maritime and waxy
Rarely bottled as a single cask
NOSE: Salty and wonderfully nutty – Frangelico (hazelnuts), roasted walnuts and fat macadamias – then spicy – cloves, star anise – and fragrant – frankincense and sandalwood. Fresh and zesty, balanced with lush vanilla sweetness: crème caramel and condensed milk. Rich and notably (candle) waxy. Coffee beans and dark chocolate with
stem ginger. Dried rose petals. Really intriguing.
PALATE: Great maritime blast. Salted tablet. Intriguing waxy texture. Still
quintessentially nutty and spicy – cinnamon (Mum’s apple crumble) and cloves. Ripe fruit – bitter cherries and quince – to bakewell tart.
FINISH: Dry, but rich, long and complex. Warm golden syrup. Refreshing citrus lift. Quite unique !
